5 Coolest Sustainable Clothing Brands and Why We Love Them

Updated: Nov 26, 2020

Did you know the carbon footprint of the fast-fashion industry is 10% of annual global carbon emissions?

Our generation's lifestyle is making our plant weak. We only have one planet. We need to stop making economic incentives trump all else and become more sustainable. Still many big corporate brands don’t give much attention to the sustainability of clothing. This is why we compromised a list of our favourite brands, pushing to be more environmentally friendly (Quick disclaimer here, our society is not sponsored or gets paid in anyways by the brands we have mentioned below).

1. Patagonia

For our veteran members, Patagonia is a familiar sight to see. According to the brand, “ A high proportion of its materials are made from recycled fabrics, including its polyester, nylon, and wool. Patagonia belongs to both the Sustainable Apparel Coalition and 1% For The Planet. It rejects fast fashion by creating high-quality, long-lasting products, and offers a repair and reuse program. It even goes so far as to discourage customers from purchasing too many of its products".

The core principle of the brand seems to revolve around sustainability and anti-fast fashion mentally which is setting the milestone for others. Patagonia can be looked at as a successful international company with its priorities set on environmentalism and not destructive fast-

fashion.

2. Threads 4 Thought

Us here in Dublin might not have heard about this brand, but this awesome company (Based in LA), is doing amazing things on their suitability front while making fashionable and great looking activewear lines.

3. EcoVibe

Who says environmentalism has to be expensive. Certainly not EcoVibe. This decade-old brand produces good-looking, not expensive, and best of all, sustainable clothing. Also, they participate in 1% For the Planet each year and give back to environmental causes. What’s bad about that H&M?

4. Franks London

This London based brand uses up-cycled fabric in all of their clothing. The brand doesn’t care much about becoming trendy nor has any mass production desires. They have a small production plant which allows them to only make clothes to order.

5. Pangaia

If you happen to read on mankind’s evolution, you might have heard of Pangea. If not, you probably heard it on Mr. Lil Dicky’s song and googled it later. That's what most of us did. But this Pangaia might certainly sound like Pangea but TRUST ME, they have no relations with geoscience. This brand uses bio-based fibres and materials from recycled plastic bottles to create their collection of colour-pop tracksuits and basics that feel effortlessly cool with a conscience. These tracksuits are super soft and the best quality! You should give them a look.
