Are you thinking about travelling sometime soon? During the lockdown, fantasising about going to a hot beach somewhere cool has become some sort of a fantasy for us at sustainable living society. We thought now that countries are easing up on their restrictions, to give you our top tips for travelling. You can never be too eco-friendly.
Pack light
One of the reasons that airlines weight your luggage before boarding is to calculate the total weight the airplane is going to carry. The more it carries, the more fuel it has to use and the more CO2 emissions it will produce. Our advice is to pack it light! Do you really need a Tuxedo for the beach? If no, get rid of it! if yes, you are one cool person, why don’t you make it cooler by wearing your tux to the airplane! :)

One time use plastics
At one point in short or long haul flights, we all get to the point of hunger where we can’t even resist airplane food. If you have ever flown before, you would have already seen how airlines use one time use plastic for everything, to the cup they serve you wine, water or any other type of liquid to the cutlery you need to use to eat. Plastic is everywhere. We recommend you to carry your own cutlery (like those awesome bamboo ones we talked about in our first segment) and your own water bottle (preferably not filled so they won’t bother you in security)

Bring your Favourite Stories Along on an Electronic Reading Device
Before saying anything, I just want to tell you I LOVE BOOKS. I love having a book in my hand and reading it. But at the end of the day, they will bring harm to our planet. I’m not gonna tell you to stop reading and buying books entirely. In fact, if you buy a book and donate it after you’re finished, you’ll help reduce someone else’s emissions footprint. In the meanwhile, you can read some of your books on Electronic Reading Device or even on your tablet. It’s not ideal, of course, but we need to make sacrifices to continue living on this planet peacefully.
